Playing peek-a-boo... ITC Kitchens of India

Playing peek-a-boo with Sanju

-          ITC Kitchens of India

Sanju is a shy lad and frequent visitor of Odriew restaurant along with his parents. Even though he comes often, he hides behind his mother whenever the staff approaches him.

 Today is no different.

 Over to Odriew restaurant…

The couple settles in and the gent calls a waiter. They decide on the food and indulge in some warm banter waiting for the food to arrive.

Sanju gets down from his chair and wanders around when a waiter approaches him. He quickly makes his way to his parent’s table and behind his mother’s chair.

When his mother calls him to eat his food, he declines. He would much rather wander around, but the waiter is not allowing him.

Oof! Why can’t he be left alone? (Tsk, tsk)

The waiter, a familiar face to the couple offers him a bite, which he stubbornly declines from behind his mother’s chair!

The waiter and the child’s chupa-chupi and much else is recorded and uploaded on YouTube. (Dear, dear!)

At length, the dessert arrives. The child, who hasn’t had a bite, looks at the waiter who brings him a plate and feeds him a spoonful which he eats by the mouthful!  (Hee-haw!)

There is a minor celebration in the staffer’s camp and after a hearty meal the couple is gifted a hamper of the desserts from ITC Kitchens of India.

With the couple in their pockets as loyal patrons, why did the management gift them desserts from ITC Kitchens of India?

Any idea?  It totally confounds me.

Or does it? (Wink, wink)

A victory and no hamper? - ITC Kitchens of India

A victory without a hamper?

(But there’s one for you, no strings attached!)

-          ITC Kitchens of India

In Odriew restaurant sometime in the evening:

Meet Raja, the energetic child of a VIP at Odriew restaurant one fine Sunday evening at a birthday party.

He never sits still, running here and there, disturbing the other guests, here, or knocking off the glasses kept neatly aligned in the table, there.

The child is a subject of great concern to the management and ITC Kitchens of India who decide to bring back a modicum of peace and balance in the room.

A waiter takes it upon himself to whisk the wailing and energetic child away, and puts him in the play area.

There the child is engaged in banging the car against the wall…

But, dear me, he isn’t eating!

As the child speeds past the waiter, the waiter swiftly put a morsel of food in his mouth…

…Which Raja immediately spits out…

…And speeds away.

A camera catches the energy of the moment and then turns its eye on the boy… (Oh, dear!)

Unsuccessful at making him eat, the waiter leaves him to his own devices.

Mayhem follows, all, all of which is recorded and uploaded on YouTube. (Tsk, tsk)

At length the boy, tired of his own antics, makes his way to the table. On his toes, he peers up at the spread and tastes each item but unsatisfied moves on to the next.

He has reached the end of the table with nothing in his stomach, when he dips his finger into a bowl.

Finger in mouth, his face registers confusion. He dips his finger again and again at which point the waiter gives him a plate with just the dish, which he laps up.

Unaware of the anxiety around him, the boy eats the food with gusto to a thunderous applause.

Needless to say, he cleans up the bowl…

…But no hampers are gifted to him.

I wonder why.

Do you? (Wink, wink)

Every Young Mother's Worst Fears

Every Young Mother’s Worst Fears

-          ITC Kitchens of India
-

On a hot afternoon in Odriew restaurant:

On a hot and lazy afternoon, a young and tired couple, with a child in tow, enters the portals of the restaurant to rest, and eat some homely food.  The child seems cranky.

The good gent motions for a waiter while the troubled wife tries to console her crying toddler. In the midst of his hollering, they sit down to catch a bite, but obviously aren’t enjoying their meal. The couple take turns to pacify, distract and then feed the child some home-made food the mother has brought,  to no success. (Oh, dear!)

A waiter who has been watching from the corner of his eye approaches them and asks them their permission to handle the kid.

The parents are relieved and begin enjoying their meal.

In the meanwhile, the toddler hollers even more, having been yanked away from the people who love him the most, all of which is recorded and uploaded on YouTube.  (Dear me!)

At length, the waiter approaches the table and the couple looks up with a weak smile. The waiter then dips his finger into the dish kept on a plate. The parents look on bewildered. The child’s shrieks to have him put down to his parent’s table grow louder.

All this and much more is a subject of more distraction among the other guests in the restaurant. (Tsk, tsk)

The waiter puts the finger dipped in the gravy into the child’s screaming mouth. The child grows violent and turns his face away…

His lips pucker at the new taste and for a while peace prevails…

… And then…

…His moist mouth opens for some more…! (Hee-haw)

The entire restaurant cheers as the child sits on the table and is fed by the Good Samaritan.

The parents, who are tickled pink by the turn of events, ask for some more of the food that they could carry home to feed their child.

The waiter gift the happy but puzzled couple a hamper of ITC Kitchens of India

I wonder why.

Do you? (Wink, wink)

What's cooking? - Part 3

What’s cooking? – Part 3

-          ITC Kitchens of India

So, the Northies and the Southies found something for themselves. And for those, who are neither (!!), I have something for you too. Yes, it would seem I have something for everyone! (Heh, heh)

So, here goes another…

Muffins

Ingredients:
Flour – 1 ½ cups
Powdered sugar – 1 cup
Unsalted Butter – 1 cup
Eggs – 2
Baking Powder – 1 tsp
Vanilla Essence – 1 tsp
Butter Paper – ½ sheet

Note: All ingredients must be at room temperature
The eggs must be freshly purchased to be on the safe side
The bowls should be devoid of any moisture

 Method:

Grease the Muffin tray. Line it with butter paper and keep it aside.

Sift the flour with the baking powder and keep aside.

Put the butter in a bowl and add the powdered sugar and mix well. Keep beating till the mixture has the texture of ice cream.

Separate the yolks from the whites.  Mix the essence into them and beat both separately and vigorously.

Beat the whites till they are stiff.

Mix the yolk with the batter, mixing constantly and vigorously.

In the meanwhile, preheat the oven at 120 degrees for ten minutes.

Lightly fold in the flour into the batter.

Then, pour in the stiff egg whites and fold in the mixture lightly.

Pour into the tray and bake for 20 minutes …

…and watch your teen drool with happiness.

Or else…

… Call in the Other Woman (!@%^&)

…and enjoy a perfect meal from master chefs. (!@%^&!)

You know who that is by now, don’t you?  Yes, yes, ITC Kitchens of India! (Grump, grump)
