Pix from the Past:
Baba Aniruddha Deshpande’s First Baby Steps
I
am trying to stand.
Ajoba
and Ajji are excited at my progress.
Mamma , papa and Tuku aunty are laughing too.
I stand gingerly and everyone is clapping
their hands.
And then I fall.
For a minute there is pin drop silence.
Everybody is looking at me to see what I will do next.
I am confused and start to cry when mamma puts
a ball of rice mixed with a bit of Kitchens of India in my mouth and wait to
see what happens.
I
stop crying and open my mouth for more.
Again, they are clapping and saying that I am
a “Kitchens of India” baby?!
Funny! Whatever you do, everybody is so happy,
no?
I
am trying to get up again. Mamma picks me up and kisses me…
...And
gives me a finger dipped in Kitchens of India to lick.
I
love Kitchens of India!
I
love mamma and papa, Tuku aunty, ajoba and ajji and my biiiiiiiig family!
