Playing purdah with ITC Kitchens of India
On
a cool, winter’s evening at Odriew Restaurant:
A
young couple saunter in to Odriew Restaurant one fine pleasant evening. They
have been identified for a good humored prank by the management and ITC
Kitchens of India.
The couple is stopped at the
entrance by a waiter as he explains that women sit on this side and men on the
other, please? We’re Indians. Thank you.
The bewildered couple’s mild protests
are not heard as the waiter warmly escorts the woman to her table, in a nice
romantic area, while the man gets the kitchen-end of the room. (Hee-haw!)
They are given the menus along with
a mobile with which to consult each other about their order? (Dear, dear!)
The man is vocal about his
discontent to stone-deaf ears. At length, a waiter offers a suggestion that
perhaps he could converse with the lady with the phone?
I know that, thank you, replies the gent
coldly. I have a phone and I know it is used for communication. (Tsk, tsk)
And then he gets busy with the
phone! (Hee-haw!)
All this and much else is recorded
and uploaded on YouTube. (Dear me!)
After the meal, the gent realizes
that he has been billed the cost of buying a new phone. Swearing aloud never to
visit this God-forsaken restaurant again, he is about to leave, when the manager
arrives and says that a joke was played on him and if he would be so kind as to
visit them on Valentine’s Day, he and the lady could enjoy a meal on the house
with best compliments from the management and ITC Kitchens of India.
Thanks for stopping by.
Have a great day!
